Ascension Amateur Radio is working to provide a vital service to our neighbors during disasters. Normally during hurricanes or floods cell phone service fails leaving tens of thousands of our neighbors without communications including the ability to call 9-1-1. A low cost, easy available FRS radio can be a life saver. AARC will monitor FRS (Family Radio Service) channels for emergency calls. We will pass that information over ham radio nets to local government agencies.
